The Big Question ?

There ‘seems’ a path in front of me. Am I moving ahead with ‘my’ efforts or is the scenery passing by none the less? Am I the ‘chooser’ of the path, or was it chosen for me? Why me? How me? Is it in me? Am I guided, or am I the ‘choice’? Is it even a choice?

  1. I think both. The path is laid out and you have the options. Its like this. That it is raining is inevitable, but you use an umbrella or get wet is your choice.

  2. My take - The path is chosen, so is when and were you fall. How quickly you get up and get moving again isn't.

  3. i think it is destined. how they say after 80,000 births or smthing u get the human form. maybe the self decides when it is bored of it's play and starts getting restless and the mind has no option but to follow the path, cause it finds happiness nowhere else. maybe we hav the option of doin it 1 or 2 births faster.
i hav often heard people call a wise person an old soul.

  5. The path is destined, or may be only the 'scenery' is moving. But what is important is our response. We have to attain a clear perception through 'chitvriti nirodha' and through total surrender. Alduous Huxley has expressed it beautifully - "Concrete materialism is only the raw stuff of a fully human life. It's through awareness, complete and constant awareness that we transform it into concrete spirtuality. Be fully aware of what you're doing, and work becomes the yoga of work, play becomes the yoga of play, everyday living becomes the yoga of exeryday living."
