WOW & HOW - III

WOW :

Shrimps are born male but slowly grow into females!

HOW :

A 10 foot ladder with two rungs 1 foot apart is hung from a ship. The water in the sea is rising at the rate of 1 ft per hour. How long will it take the ladder to be submerged in water?

  1. It will never submerge as the ship and the ladder attached will rise according to the rise in sea level.

  2. Assuming that the ladder is just above water before the rising of the sea; it will take 10 hours. How far the rungs are, is inconsequential.

Fingers crossed, hoping Swan does not trash this answer.

  3. Doesn't matter how fast the water is rising, the ladder will never be submerged in water. As the water rises, the ship doesn't automatically start to sink, it goes up too!

  4. the ladder will never be submerged as its riding on a ship which will rise with the rise in water level.

  5. Sam and Sahil are both correct. With the rise in the water level, the ship will rise and thus the ladder hung on the ship too will rise.
